Bargaining Bulleting 2022 #2

9 September 2024 • CMCFA Bargaining Committee Chair

We are providing you with an update on bargaining with respect to our collective agreement.

We engaged with Treasury Board earlier this year to schedule meetings at the bargaining table. We have exchanged proposals with the employer and were planning to hold two bargaining sessions in the month of August 2024.

Prior to the bargaining sessions taking place, the employer unilaterally introduced new restrictions on members of our bargaining team – that effectively made it impossible for our CMCFA Bargaining Team to meet with the employer. This resulted in us filing an unfair labour practice complaint for failure to bargain in good faith and for other violations of the Federal Public Sector Labour Relations Act. We are currently engaging in discussions with the employer to resolve these issues and hope to have a further update soon.

We also filed another unfair labour practice complaint for failing to observe the terms and conditions of employment in place when notice to bargain was served following the announcements of budget cuts and their impact on UT workload which we detailed in our message to you of 16 June 2024.

We will continue to bargain to reach the best collective agreement possible and will advise you of further developments.
